Your therapist usually conducts an initial comprehensive evaluation that will last from 1 to 4 sessions. During the evaluation period, your therapist works with you to decide how to best provide the service(s) for your needs and provide you with an initial impression of what our joint efforts (yours and ours) together might include. At that point, you and your therapist will discuss your treatment goals and create an initial treatment plan that includes your own insights toward treatment.
If you and your therapist decide to work together in psychotherapy, he/she will schedule at least one 45-50 minute session per week at a time agreed upon, although recommendations may be made for more or less frequent visits. Once an appointment is scheduled it is assigned to you and you alone. Subject to our Cancellation Policy, it is your responsibility to be present and on time for each appointment.
You will be expected to pay for any missed session unless you provide at least 48 hours cancellation notice. Because missed appointments typically cannot be billed to insurance carriers, you will be solely responsible for paying for those appointments [unless you and your therapist both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control]. If it is possible, your therapist will reschedule the appointment. In addition, you are responsible for coming to your session on time; if you are late, your appointment will still need to end on time.
